In moments of global uncertainty, our inner worlds don’t stay still—and neither does play. This one-day Developmental Transformations (DvT) workshop offers a deep, embodied exploration of instability as articulated by David Read Johnson: not as something to resolve or eliminate, but as a vital engine of creativity, meaning-making, and emotional truth.
Across six hours of play and didactic integration, participants will engage instability as it lives in the body, in relationships, and in our collective emotional landscape—grief, fear, rage, hope, and the longing for coherence in a fractured world. Together, we’ll explore how DvT allows us to stay present and responsive amid disruption, and how play becomes a way to metabolize chaos rather than shut down or over-control it.
Held at Howie the Harp—a space rooted in community, dignity, and lived experience—this workshop invites clinicians, artists, and helpers to reconnect with flexibility, curiosity, and aliveness at a time when none of us are untouched by what’s happening around us.

This class provides 12 Embodied Play hours towards Practitioner Certification. This workshop can be used for 12 hours of Continuing Education for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists, Licensed Social Workers (LMSW/LSCW) and RDTs.
