“(Not) Playing with the Truth: Being Honest with Children in Difficult Conversations” with Stephanie Omens
Stephanie Omens, author of the soon-to-be-released book Drama Therapy and the Bereaved Child, will bring her particular brand of wisdom, compassion and bravery to explore what it means to find ways to be present in a helpful way with children who are experiencing loss and grief. Her work “No White Lies,” helps us challenge and confront our own desires for self-protection in the face of death and dying to create better relationships and healthier children.
Stephanie will present excerpts from her clinical work and theory and guide the group in exercises in developing developmentally appropriate language to use with children. Following Stephanie’s presentation, the group will utilize play and embodied practices to respond to and explore the principles through Developmental Transformations (DvT).
